For now, application development for the iPhone is still somewhat elitist, since the Apple SDK is proposed only for Mac OS X, thus forcing developers to buy an Apple computer. This could change thanks to a member of the forum pr0x.org (a forum dedicated to hacking the iPhone) currently working on the development of a SDK for Windows.
